Junior ‘B’ Football: Mullingar Shamrocks 0-10 Shandonagh 2-17.

First things first. Mullingar Shamrocks would like to thank the Shandonagh physio Susie Burzawa for her professional expertise in taking care of Dylan Franzoni when he received an injury during the match. Hopefully, the super-fit and extremely promising Dylan will soon be back in action.

Of the game itself there isn’t much to say. The far stronger Shandonagh dominated from start to finish. The control began in the early stages when Callum Faulkner and Cormac Kyne raced unhindered from the middle of the park and rattled the Shamrocks net. The Shandonagh men added five points including a spectacular curling long-range effort from Ryan Donnelly. Andrew Shaw was showing well in the Shamrocks attack in this half and kicked three good points, David Culkin added 0-2 to the total and a single Jack Kelly effort brought the interval score to 2-5 to 0-6 in favour of Shandonagh.

The men from out the road controlled the second half and outscored Mullingar Shamrocks 0-11 to 0-4 with Cormac Kyne, Jack Tynan and Ryan Donnelly responsible for some tidy efforts. Shamrocks, who use this competition to provide as much football as possible for players (and welcome back Rian Adamson after a long absence), had points from Jack Kelly, Neill Hannigan, Tom Hickey and Nathan Smyth before Derek Heffernan’s final whistle.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Sean Hynes; Eamonn Breslin (Aaron Russell), Dylan Carey, Rory Hickey; Dylan Franzoni (Jordan Awunah), Ben Egan (Rian Adamson), John Ryan; James Larkin, Pearse Corroon; Neil Hannigan (0-1), Nathan Smyth, Jack Kelly (0-2); Andrew Shaw (0-3), David Culkin (0-2) [Tom Hickey, 0-1], Adam Boyle (Shane Colleary).
