Under-15 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 4-11 Garrycastle 3-10
On Sunday evening, our Under 15 team completed the group stage of the Division 1 league with a good win over Garrycastle in a well-contested game. Despite playing against the breeze in the first half, Shamrocks settled quickly with goals from Tommy Daly and Ben Mc Namee. Wing back, Ronan Byrne, also chipped in with a well-taken point. Garrycastle stayed in touch with some good points and a penalty before half time left them trailing at the break 3-4 to 1-7. The flow of scores continued in the second half with some great efforts on both sides. Another goal from Ben McNamee extended the lead for Shamrocks but Garrycastle never gave up and were rewarded with two goals. The final score was 4-11 to 3-10.
Overall, it was a good team performance. Special mention to Dillon Burke who deputised in goals for the injured Adam Buckley. Dillon made a number of good saves and was also very consistent with his kick-outs. After missing earlier league games through injury, Ty Masterson made a welcome return at midfield. Ben McNamee was a constant threat up front.
The lads have qualified for the League final which will be against St Loman’s.

Ladies Under-14 League: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-08; Killucan 2-07
Our Under-14 girls welcomed Killucan to Springfield on Thursday evening and it was a very enjoyable match between two evenly matched teams.
Mullingar had the better of the exchanges in the first half leading 0-04 to 0-01 at half time. Killucan started stronger after half time, scoring two early goals. Our girls hit back with a goal of their own and both teams traded points until Killucan pulled ahead by two points before the final whistle. One Killucan point was questionable but hawkeye wasn’t consulted.
Our girls played with great endeavor with Eabha Moran putting in a standout performance in the middle of the pitch. It could be said that they deserved a draw, at the least, but it wasn’t to be this time. Well done girls on a good team performance.
