10 POSSIBILITES for the final series of matches in Section B ...

this comes with a Health Warning but hopefully all the info here is correct.

All 6 teams have an interest in the results with the top 4 still in with a chance of making the knockout stages and 4 not guaranteed to avoid relegation!

The Caulry match was not a must win game after all. The fact that the top two teams Moate All-Whites and Caulry on 5 points each meet in the final match provides an opportunity for Mullingar Shamrocks and/or Killucan to qualify for the quarter finals provided we beat Shandonagh or Killucan defeat Rosemount.

Those late points last Saturday evening when the match was effectively over were important after all.

Rule 6.21 applies for the ranking of teams. (i) Where two teams are tied, the head-to-head result shall apply. (ii) Where more than two teams are tied, points difference, then highest score for shall apply. If teams are still tied a play-off will be required.

For relegation in the group, team 6 shall be relegated. In the event Teams 5 and 6 are tied, a relegation play-off shall apply.

In Group B of the senior championship Caulry (+9 points) and Moate All Whites (+ 3) top the group with 5 points; Mullingar Shamrocks (+11) and Killucan (+2) have 4 points and Rosemount (-11) and Shandonagh (-14) have three points each.

The possibilities for the last day’s play are numerous.

(1) The winner of the Moate All-Whites v Caulry game will have 7 points and will top the group. The losing team will remain on 5 and will probably not qualify for the knockout stages but it is a possibility (Moate win by less than 6 points, Killucan draw and Shamrocks lose).

(2) A win for Moate or Caulry and Mullingar Shamrocks beat Shandonagh, Shamrocks will qualify for the knock-out stages.

(3) If Killucan defeat Rosemount and Shamrocks beat Shandonagh they will be level on 6 points but Shamrocks will qualify as they have the advantage of defeating Killucan in their group match. (With two teams on equal points, the head-to head-result counts).

(4) Before we get carried away with thoughts of qualification, if Shandonagh defeat Mullingar Shamrocks and Rosemount defeat Killucan both teams go to 5 points and Shamrocks and Killucan will be preparing for a relegation play-off as both will have 4 points.

(5) If Shandonagh defeat Shamrocks and Rosemount and Killucan draw then it will be Shamrocks and Rosemount for the relegation play-off as both will be level on 4 points at the bottom of the table.

(6) If the three matches are drawn then Moate and Caulry qualify for the play-offs and Rosemount and Shandonagh will face off in a relegation match.

(7) If Moate and Caulry draw and Shamrocks win (Killucan defeat) it will be Shamrocks and Caulry for the play offs as the two teams with the best score difference.

(8] If Moate and Caulry draw and Killucan win (Shamrocks defeat) by at least two points, it will be Killucan and Caulry for the quarter finals.

(9) If Caulry and Moate draw and Killucan and Mullingar Shamrocks win then all four teams finish with 6 points. Shamrocks qualify for the play-offs with the best score difference and the second place will be determined by Killucan’s winning margin (Caulry have a 7 points advantage over Killucan at this stage).

(10) Wins for Shandonagh and Killucan will leave Rosemount isolated on the bottom with 3 points and relegated to intermediate ranks for 2022.
