Under-20 Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-8 Moate All-Whites 1-9. 

A superb game of football in Springfield on Tuesday night as Moate All-Whites and Shamrocks  went toe-to-toe for 60 minutes with Shamrocks eventually coming out on top. There  was some heroic defending for the last 20 minutes or so with Moate in all-out attacking mode. The attitude of our defenders was top class during this spell of Moate dominance. Eoin Doran was great and his penalty save prevented the visitors from drawing level. Shane Ormsby and Ciaran Kiernan worked tirelessly at midfield. 

There were some great Shamrocks scores: Alex Sheerin was the predator-in-chief and bagged 2-2 including converting a penalty. Conor Heffernan kicked over two points. Ryan Kelly’s pointed free kick off the ground, from out on the right sideline towards the Astroturf was a class act as was Gavin Pierce’s dummy solo to the corner back before planting the ball between the posts to put Mullingar Shamrocks two points ahead. 

An important victory and with 27 players togged out a positive night for the club.
