ACL Div. 5: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-17 Killucan 0-4.

A busy few days for our adult teams ended with a 100% success rate when Gary Corroon’s Division 5 charges faced Killucan on Sunday morning in Springfield and earned their second win in five days to move into the top half of the table.
Shamrocks took the initiative from the outset and aided by the breeze established an early advantage. Brian Farrell produced his best display since his comeback from injury and five points from midfield is a reflection of his work ethic and accuracy. It was hugely encouraging that over half of our tally was notched by players still in their teens with Alex Sheerin’s first half goal and Gavin Pierce’s second half tour de force the other scoring highlights of an all round excellent team performance.
Matthew Shaw, the consistent Dylan Carey and the ultra reliable Eamon Breslin also were to the fore. (The top class displays of the Donegal corner backs later in the day may have been a reaction to the gauntlet laid down by Bressie amid rumours of Jim McGuinness recruiting him into his squad!!) Cormac Darby and Marc Waters also continued their reintroduction to the playing fields and this squad can look forward to challenging for promotion now that relegation fears have been allayed.
Mullingar Shamrocks : Liam English, Eamon Breslin, Matthew Siode, Adam Glynn, Dylan Carey, Con Fitzpatrick, Tadgh Sheridan,

ACL Division 1: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-15 Tyrrellspass 1-9.

A good win for our adult teams was completed on Saturday afternoon in Springfield when our Division 1 side overcame Tyrrellspass on a 1-15 to 1-7 scoreline. The wins for the Division 5 and Division 2 sides were hard fought this week and Saturday’s win was no different. The foundations were laid in the opening half against the breeze with Brendan O’ Reilly and Denis Corroon curling over fine
scores and Shanrocks’ version of Rory Beggan, Ross Corroon, striking over some superb long range frees. (Ross won’t mind it being highlighted that he used up his quota of wides in Ballymore!!) Tyrrellspass’ goal midway through the half
narrowed the lead established by the green and whites but The influential Donnacha Maguire’s goal was a crucial score with Shamrocks leading by 1-9 to 1-5 at the break. The strong swirling breeze made shooting difficult but
excellent points by Oliver MacNamara, Conn O’ Hanlon, Dean Moore and Ross Corroon kept a reasonable gap between the sides and helped secure two valuable
league points for Micheal Burke’s charges.

The squad was as follows: Ross Corroon 0-8, Adam Glynn, Efe Siode, Davy Coyne, Brendan O’ Reilly 0-1, Davy Gavin 0-2, Dillon Matthews, Darragh Daly, Donnacha Maguire 1-0, Conn O’ Hanlon 0-1, Lorcan Smyth, Neil Hannigan, Dean Moore 0-2, Denis Corroon 0-1, Oliver MacNamara 0-1, Nathan Smith, Pierce Corroon, Donal Lane, Trevor Keena.
