Mullingar Shamrocks to feature on RTE’s Heated programme on Thursday at 8.00.
Heated is an RTE programme dealing with Climate Change. This week the focus of the programme is on the GAA’s Green Club initiative and will feature Mullingar Shamrocks and highlight the club’s efforts to promote biodiversity.
Thanks to the inspirational work of our Green Club coordinator Joan Ormsby, Mullingar Shamrocks of the Westmeathgaaofficial and WestmeathLadies Gaa is a Mentor Club for Biodiversity nationally and it is in this role that the club will feature on Thursday at 8.00.
Pauraic Fallon, Chairperson of Clan na Gael Club (Dundalk), the GAA’s Green Club mentor for Energy will also feature as will Kurt Rheinhart representing the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan and Kurt will explain the contribution of The Dome to sustainability.
The programme seeks out inspirational stories of ordinary people making significant differences in their communities. It looks at the implications of that change for the lives of Irish people – telling stories of hope, inspiration and practical endeavours as we push to cut emissions.
The interventions of Mullingar Shamrocks are very much part of that story.
The Green Club Programme was established to support Gaelic Games clubs in taking simple and effective sustainability action in their grounds and activities. The Programme is structured around the themes of Energy, Water, Waste, Biodiversity and Travel & Transport and is designed to promote sustainability awareness and action in GAA clubs and communities.
