Junior I Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-9 Killucan 1-9
Wind-assisted Killucan held a 1-6 to 0-2 lead as half-time approached but a goal by fullback Matthew Siode just before the half ended was one of the crucial scores of the game. A great save by the Killucan keeper began a move that ended with Killucan scoring their goal which amounted to a six point first half swing. The sides were evenly matched and a draw seemed the likely outcome when Trevor Keena scored a great winning goal when he converted a chance created by the brother Darren. This time a goal created in the same Lynn Heights house secured the championship points when a draw seemed the most likely outcome. The game was notable for the return to active service of the great warrior that is Eddie Moore after his recovery from a serious facial injury received during the league campaign.
