Barry Kelly 50+ not-out

Congrats to Barry Kelly who was presented with a gold medal by the President of the GAA, Aogan O' Fearghail, at the recent National Referees Awards Banquet in Croke Park to mark his achievement in becoming the first referee in GAA history to referee 50 senior inter-county championship matches, a milestone we recognised on these pages some months ago.
Apart from his playing days with Shamrocks and his deep involvement in our under-age coaching, it is forgotten that Barry is also a former PRO and secretary of Mullingar Shamrocks. There is a lesson in this: you can hold these positions at a young age even when you are still playing!
