Navan O’Mahony’s Festival of Football

The Navan O’Mahony’s Football Clun celebrated the 75th Anniversary of their foundation in the best possible manner on Sunday by organising a Festival of Football for Under-10 teams and invited clubs from across the country to participate in the matches organised using the Go Games principles. Mullingar Shamrocks were privileged to be invited to what was a brilliantly organized day of football fun.

The boys were given a taste of the big match occasion with the formal parade around the pitch led by The Irish National Forresters Band. The green and white flags were flying as our Mullingar Shamrocks banner proclaimed our family friendly identity.

Two Mullingar Shamrocks teams then competed against Navan O’Mahony’s, Balltinglass, Tullamore, Senchelstown, Portmarnock, Tuam and Maynooth.

The boys represented the club with great pride and their behaviour on and off the field was excellent. The coaches were delighted with the skills, determination and attitude displayed during the games. It was a long day of football, but the players somehow managed to find the energy to keep going and displayed some wonderful moments of football highlighting their ever-improving ability.

As always, thank you to all the families and supporter who travelled on the day. A great day of fun and enjoyment was had with great memories made.

Thanks again to the Navan O’Mahony’s Clubh for the invitation. And thanks to Aidan O’Donoghue and Finian Nally for the photographs of what was a special day for the young footballers involved.
