Junior ‘B’ Football Competition: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-11 St Loman’s 6-11

A poor start to the Junior B competition on Tuesday evening in Springfield when we were well beaten by St Loman’s after trailing by 2-7 to 0-4 at the interval. Ross Clinton and Ciarán Smyth scored the two important goals for St Loman’s with Brendan O’Reilly, Nathan Smyth, Niall Hannigan and David Culkin pointing for Shamrocks.

Shamrocks staged a short-lived revival on resumption during which some great football was played and a number of fine points were kicked especially by Luke McCabe (0-2), David Culkin (0-1) and Nathan Smyth (0-2) to narrow the gap. However two gift goals for David Morgan ended the revival and two more goals from Shane Mulderry and Ross Clinton secured the comfortable win for St Loman’s. In between a point by David Culkin and a late goal from Nathan Smyth completed the scoring.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Adam Smyth; Eamonn Breslin (Enda Keating), Pearse Corroon, Dylan Carey; Nathan Cornally (Tomass Turks), Ciaran Kieran, Dylan Franzoni (Adam Boyle – blood sub); Brian Melody, Brendan O’Reilly (0-1); Matthew Ryan (Seán Óg Hynes), Niall Hannigan (0-1), Nathan Smyth (1-3) [Mark Shaw], Andrew Shaw (0-1) David Culkin (0-3), Luke McCabe (0-2).
