LGFA Under-16 Div. 3: Mullingar Shamrocks 6-6 Milltown 5-9

Mullingar Shamrocks Under-16 LGF team played Milltown in Springfield on Tuesday in a game that finished with a draw. It was a game that challenged each players speed, skill, resilience and tenacity especially in the second half.

Mullingar Shamrocks dominated the first 20 minutes but in typical fashion Milltown bounced back in the last 10 minutes before the break and reduced the Shamrocks margin to the minimum (2-4 to 2-3).

After the break, Milltown returned strong and at the end of the first quarter had moved into a seven point lead. Our players showed great togetherness as a team and maintained their composure that kept us in the game. There was some outstanding defending and a number of long runs from our midfielders and forwards resulted in the ball in the net.

In the last quarter, it was an evenly matched game and the very well taken Mullingar Shamrocks penalty by Linda Raeside in the last 10 minutes finished the scoring and secured the deserved draw for our girls with the goal scoring ability of Grace Daly again on display.

Well done girls and coaches!
