Div.1 Minor Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-18 Caulry 2-6

The foundation for this win was laid down in the opening 20 minutes when Shamrocks outscored Caulry 1-7 to 0-1 with the opening three points scored by each member of the full-forward line, Gavin Pierce, Alex Sheerin and Tommy Daly. Gavin Pierce smashed a shot off the crossbar after a fine run; Tommy Daly kicked a second point, Conor Heffernan pointed a difficult free. Alex Sheerin and Ryan Kelly added two more points and Callum Rigney Clyne goaled. At the other end of the field a great early save by Matas prevented a goal and shortly after an even more spectacular piece of defending by Hugh O’Sullivan Sexton prevented an opening Caulry goal. In this manner the foundation of a convincing win was created.
