Minor Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-10 Moate All-Whites 1-8

With both teams playing without their county players, Shamrocks and Moate defied the difficult conditions to serve up a decent game of football in Springfield. The sides were level at 0-5 each at the interval with Gavin Pierce, Criostóir Ormsby (0-2) and Alex Sheerin (0-2) responsible for the Shamrocks scores. A good save by the Moate keeper deprived Matt Shaw of a goal.

Wind assisted in the second half, Shamrocks generally dominated; the concession of a sloppy goal in the final minutes could have proved costly. The crucial score of the half was Gavin Pierce’s goal which put the finishing touches to a very good combination move. Gavin also notched two points with Paul Keating, Ben McNamee and Conor Heffernan also contributing to the Shamrocks total.
