The Late Peter Glennon

For the second time in the space of a few weeks Mullingar Shamrocks mourns the loss of one of its esteemed Honorary Presidents. The club extends sincere sympathy to the family of the late Peter Glennon, Lynn Heights, Mullingar and in particular to his daughter Thérèse and his sons Oisín, and Ciarán and their partners Fred, Sam, and Katie, granddaughter Aoibhinn, sister Sheila, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Peter reposes at at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home tomorrow (Tuesday) from 4.30 pm followed by removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar, arriving at 6.30 pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11.00 am followed by burial in Ballyglass Cemetery.

Peter Glennon served the club in a number of ways. He successfully represented the club in Scór Figure Dancing competitions and was a member of the champion team of 1981 as well as enjoying success at coaching and managing at under-age level. Peter with John Corroon, Terry O’Dowd and Joe Murray formed the management team of the last Mullingar Shamrocks team to win the Triple Crown of Under-14 titles in 2005.

Ciarán and Oisín represented the club at under-age level successfully and Thérèse wore the Mullingar Shamrocks jersey in LGF. Peter’s late wife Marion was one of the great Mullingar Shamrocks volunteer workers.
