Green Club Status Confirmed
Saturday last in Croke Park was another proud occasion for the club when it was presented with an 'Official GAA Green Club' Plaque of recognition as its status as a Green Club. This ceremony included the official launch of the association’s Green Club toolkit. This was produced in conjunction with club’s who were involved and engaged in Phase 1 of the Green Club programme. Mullingar Shamrocks, thanks to the initiative, enthusiasm and commitment of our Green Club officer, Joan Ormsby played a central role in the development of this toolkit and the club features prominently in the finished product section dealing with biodiversity with Mullingar Shamrocks nominated as a mentor club for Phase 2 of the worthy initiative. The biodiversity section of the toolkit contains suggestions for a wide variety of actions that clubs can undertake to maintain and enhance biodiversity in their grounds. Joan Ormsby and Debbie Newman represented the club at the Croke Park function and we compliment Joan for her work in the programme.
