Under 13 Shield Semi Final: Shamrocks edge Caulry
Our younger Whites team faced a strong Caulry side early Sunday morning. A lovely morning for football and both teams served up a very entertaining game. Shamrocks got out of the blocks early with Colm Clinton keeping the scoreboard ticking. Some great defending from Killian Hand, Cian Traynor, Carl Keane and MJ Burke kept Caulry at bay and Shamrocks went in 9 to 4 up at half time.
Caulry started the second half much the stronger and scored an excellent goal and only for a brilliant save from Tom McCaul would have went ahead.
Shamrocks thanks to the Kelly twins, and mid field pairing of Scott and Shay crawled their way back into the game and a huge score from Jamie Timoney was crucial at this time.
Alfie Rock won 3 kick outs in a row near the end to ensure Shamrocks kept the game in the Caulry half. The work rate of Darragh Daly and Oliver Keane helped see the team over the line by two points.
21 lads togged out which is great to see for this younger team and all supporting each other over the line.
The Shield final awaits next weekend against Delvin.
