The 1994 final was held on Sunday 25 September in Castletown Geoghegan in which Mullingar Shamrocks completed the three-in-a-row by beating Tyrrellspass who were playing in their first senior final on a 1-14 to 0-9 scoreline.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Dermot Ryan; Ned Moore, Michael Conlon, Peter Smith (Aidan Lyons); Kevin Daly, Paul Aherne, John Conlon; Tom Ormsby, Bill Sex (1-0); Michael Fagan (0-1), Ciaran Ryan (0-1) [Eddie Casey], Denis Corroon (0-2); Bernard Flynn (0-7), Mark Treanor (0-2), Michael O’Reilly (0-1).

Other panellists: John Doran, Pearse Corroon (injured), Adrian Keaveney, Paddy Monaghan, Shane Colleary, Brian Morley, Barry Kelly, Eric Smyth, Seán Hynes, Ivan O’Connor, Ritchie Daly and Barry Maguire.

Team Management: Ritchie O’Donoghue (manager), Davy Gavin, Seán Cleary and Mick Greene.

Club Officers: President: Detty Cornally; Chairman: Mick Greene; Secretary: Barry Kelly; Treasurer: Tom Hunt; PRO: Mick Burke; Assistant Secretary: Daithí Fee.

One of the interesting stats from the game is that Shamrocks were awarded 17 frees whilst Tyrrellspass were the recipients of 35 frees. All six Shamrocks forwards got contributed to the scoreboard (Tommy Carr, take note).

These were the days when we organised a banner competition for the final which explains the number of banners in the pictures. And is the young man behind the teddy bear one of the most distinguished footballers in the history of the club?
