Blitz Time Again …

A very busy morning in The Downs as the Westmeath Coachng and Games Development Committee organised Under 7, Under 9 and Under-11 blitz took place. The Downs was one of three venues in use across the county with Athlone and Kinnegad also hosting clubs. Well done to Bernie Corroon, Aaaran Whelehan and the man who scored one of the most famous goals in Westmeath football history, Kieran Martin were on duty in a really busy The Downs which was packed with people and young footballers. St Lomans, St Paul’s, The Downs, CFCW, Delvin, Ballynacargy, Ballycomoyle and our own young footballers were there in force.

On a lovely sunny day, it was great to see to see our Under-7,Under-9 and Under-11 players put their best efforts into all of the games. The skills worked on in training were well and truly on display, left and right foot passing and shooting, solid blocking, passing, movement and teamwork. Every boy gave 100%. It was a great morning.

And the Tailteann Cup was the guest of honour with lots of photo opportunities with some of the stars of Westmeath football.
