ACL Div.5: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-9 Multyfarnham 2-7
Mullingar Shamrocks came up short by a single point in this ACL Div.5 encounter in Springfield. Multyfarnham led by 1-5 to 1-3 at the interval thanks to a goal scored by Leroy Casserly. Mark Shaw was Shamrocks goalscorer and John O’Reilly, Matthew Shaw and Zach Aherne added the points. A scoring burst of two points early in the second half levelled the contest; Niall Hannigan pointed from long range and Paddy Joyce added a second point almost immediately. Another point from Sean Hynes edged Shamrocks ahead before Multyfarnham had their mini-scoring spell with Stephen Sweeney cutting through the Shamrocks defence for a goal and Adam Bates pointed to extend the Multy lead to three points (2-6 to 1-6). Aaron Russell scored a fine point and Ryan Blundell added another almost immediately to complete our second mini-scoring burst. A pointed free by Adam Bates was neutralised by a similar score by Niall Hannigan but unfortunately this proved to be the last kick of the evening.
