Under 15 Division 1 League final: Mullingar Shamrocks 1-17 St. Loman’s 3-9
Shamrocks’ under 15s finished their league campaign on Tuesday last with a narrow win over neighbours St. Loman’s after a gripping final played in tremendous spirit by two fine teams. Conor Lisbon’s two first half goals and a fine save by Graham Duggan were key factors in the visitors leading by six points at the break, 2-6 to 0-6 and a superb goal by the talented Jack McCann early in the second half seemed likely to signal a victory for his side. However, the home side showed considerable spirit and no little skill to notch five unanswered points with Ty Masterson, Criostoir Ormsby and Ronan Byrne prominent and Ben McNamee’s opportunistic goal with ten minutes remaining ensured level terms. The game could have gone either way with both sides spurning opportunities before Rory McCaul and Padraig Casey’s accuracy ensured a Shamrocks’ win on a 1-17 to 3-9 scoreline. Every player could feel proud of his efforts in a high quality encounter that provided great entertainment for the good sized attendance. The attention now turns to the championship which is due to start in a few weeks.
