Under-16 LGF League: Mullingar Shamrocks 3-8 Cill Óige 3-8
First of all a big Thank You to Oliver Plunketts for allowing us use of one of their very well maintained pitches on Thursday evening where Mullingar Shamrocks Under-16 ladies played Cill Oige on a very windy wet evening in Robinstown. Two well matched teams played a very competitive match with moments of great football and some lost chances by both sides. Playing with the wind in the first half Mullingar Shamrocks were 1-7 to 1-4 ahead at half time which started with a great goal from Zara Corroon and points from Jagoda, and a point each from Linda, Alessia and Mollie.
On return to play after the break, Cill Oige came back strongly and scored the equalising goal and two points from frees in first 10 minute and added an additional goal and a point from play shortly afterwards putting the visitors ahead by 2 goals. Our goalie and backs defended well and with great saves they kept us in the game. With 15 minutes to the end our midfielders and forwards went on the attack. A well
taken free from Linda Raeside hit the back of the net. In the last 10 minutes playing against a very strong wind, Shamrocks ladies showed great speed, skill and teamwork in mid field and forwards and controlled the play and got the ball into Jasmine Ginnell who scored a goal to equalise and then a point to put us ahead. Both teams kept battling to the end and in injury time, Cill Oige scored a point from a free to finish the game with a draw of 3-8 each.
Great performances by all the panel contributed to the draw and a very well done to all the girls and management team.
