Under-15s reach Féile final
Shamrocks’ under 15s bid to put Division 1 Feile titles back to back just fell short on Saturday afternoon last in Kinnegad. We were drawn to play the home side and Garrycastle in the group stages and began well with a hard fought 3-4 to 1-4 victory over the home side. Aindreis Opala’s second half goal was the game’s crucial score. Our next game was against Garrycastle and saw the squad produce their best performance of the day. The Shamrocks’ lads began in devastating fashion and led by 2-2 to 0-0 after only seven mins. Garrycastle fought back but we had enough in hand to win on a 4-6 to 2-4 scoreline. This ensured our qualification for the Féile final against St. Loman’s. These two sides know each other well, on and off the field, with our local rivals determined to avenge the recent league defeat in Springfield. Ben McNamee was a thorn in their side in the final but a better balanced St. Loman’s side got vital scores throughout to always keep their noses in front. The green and whites fought valiantly but St. Loman’s emerged victorious on a 3-8 to 3-3 scoreline. We wish St. Loman’s the best as they represent the county in the National Féile in early July. The squad on duty on Saturday was: Adam Buckley, James Davitt, Ty Masterson, Ben Sheerin, Ben McNamee, Aindreis Opala, Isaac Haughey, Dillon Burke, Tommy Idowu, Ted Aherne, Paul Keating, Ronan Byrne, Jack Toal, Andrew Gavigan, Zac Coyne, Brian Wycherly, Liam Heffernan, Charlie Foy, Declan Newman, Ruairi Kilmartin, Criostoir Ormsby, Rory McCaul, Gareth Sweeney and Padraig Casey.
Thanks to the Coralstown Kinnegad club whose excellent facilities enhanced Saturday’s action.
