LGFA Under-16 League: Mullingar Shamrocks 6 -9 v Tyrellspass 2-1
Mullingar Shamrocks U16 girls got their season off to a great start with a convincing win against
Tyrrellspass on Thursday evening in Springfield. The home team played with a strong wind in the first half, however early season rustiness was evident in the opening exchanges. Shamrocks opened with a fine point but the visitors then hit back with a well taken goal. This triggered the home team to life and they then made the most of their wind advantage, scoring 2-04 without reply, going in at half time with a healthy lead of 2-05 to 1-00.
The girls took up where they left off in the second half, scoring 2 more goals. The visitors, to their
credit, never gave up but were unable to narrow the gap.
On a cold evening, with a strong breeze the game was fast paced, with all players displaying their
skills and showing great teamwork from start to finish. There were lots of good individual
performances on the night but special mention must go to Jagoda Bartosiewicz, who in her debut
in the full forward position scored a phenomenal 4-05! Well done all.
