Hard luck to Melek Fagan and Michelle Morris who were members of the Westmeath Under-18 team beaten by Dublin (6-22 to 4-9) in the Leinster MInor A final in Clane on Sunday. The Westmeath girls made a sensational comeback to force the game into extra-time but unfortunately the Dublin girls got the big scores early in the extra minutes to capture the Leinster title.
There was no joy for our Division 5 team on Sunday morning or none of the never-say-die spirit displayed by the Westmeath girls at Clane as Milltownpass were convincing (2-14 to 0-9) winners after an even first-half which ended with the teams tied at 0-5 each. Shamrocks were totally outplayed in the second half; two pointed frees by Ross Corroon and a fine point from play by veteran Paul Aherne represented our best efforts.
