Congrats

Congratulations to Pearse Corroon, Killian and Daragh Daly, Denis Corroon (who set down an early marker with a superb opening point for Westmeath), Patrick Fagan, Carole Finch and Karen Hegarty for their contribution to Westmeath’s victories in the Leinster Championship against Offaly (0-13 to 0-12) and Meath (5-21 to 2-14). Next Sunday, Westmeath ladies play Dublin, the Leinster Champions in their second Leinster championship match whilst in two weeks time it is the turn of the men to travel to Croke Park to play Kildare in the Leinster semi-final.

Congratulations also to Conor O’Brien who had a superb week with the Ireland Under-20 rugby team and who lined out at first-centre against Wales and New Zealand. Ireland of course won both matches and Conor was a contender for man of the match against Wales and also played superbly when the under-20 team became the first male team representing Ireland to beat New Zealand.  With these quality displays it is inevitable that we will soon be referring to Conor as the former Mullingar Shamrocks footballer.
