Under-10 Blitz
Our annual under-10 blitz takes place on Sunday morning (12 June) with the first games scheduled to take place at 10.30 and the competition scheduled to conclude at 3.00. This is a massive undertaking for our under-age committee led by Seán Hynes and Pat Collins with Robbie Boyle, Tom Ormsby, Tony Sheerin and Barry Maguire and a large team of helpers the chief architects of the tournament. Four groups of four teams compete and include Navan O’Mahoneys, Emmett Óg, Celbridge, Maynooth, Erin’s Isle, Baltinglass, Kilmacud Crokes, Salthill and Mullahoran; Westmeath teams involved include Shamrocks, St Loman’s, Killucan, St Mary’s Rochfortbridge and Kilbeggan Shamrocks.
The rules of this competition are very simple: Children must have fun, enjoy themselves and have a good time. Every child must have the opportunity to play games in an informal, safe and enjoyable environment and experience a sense of enjoyment and fulfilment. All panel members present MUST compete, NO EXCEPTIONS.
So if you are free on this Sunday morning, you could do worse than drop down to Springfield before heading to Cusack Park for the Westmeath-Offaly clash.
