Under-14 Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 6-14 Coralstown-Kinnegad 5-13
Our Under-14 has been showing a consistent rate of improvement all season and confirmed their upward progression on Friday night with a great win against a strong Coralstown-Kinnegad team in this high scoring spectacular played at Springfield. The key-moments of this match occurred twenty minutes into the first-half when Shamrocks scored three goals in a two minute goal-den spell. Niall Ouchbakou (2-0) and Zach Ahern were the ones who raised the crucial green flags. A fourth Shamrocks goal by Oliver McNamara immediately before half-time was immediately neutralised by a similar Coralstown-Kinnegad effort to produce an interval score of 4-4 to 1-9 in favour of Shamrocks who were wind assisted. The second half was the best performance of the year for this team and led by Seán Óg Hynes they added 2-10 to their first half tally and were deserving 0-4 winners when the hour’s play was ended. Zach Aherne and Shane Daly socred the important second-half goals.
