Shamrocks’ under 13 Whites travelled to Mount Temple on Monday evening to face Caulry in their Division 3 championship preliminary quarter final. They produced their best performance of the year to deservedly advance to the quarter final proper on Friday week against Multy. Team managers Oisin Masterson and Derek Sheeran were delighted with the wholehearted efforts of their players. Shamrocks had 18 players on duty and each one played a major role in a fine win. Goalkeeper David Fulham made an outstanding penalty save in the second half and bravely smothered the rebound while Jack Conlon at full back maintained the family tradition of teak tough defenders with a rousing display reminiscent of his granddad Mick in his heyday. The tenacious Luke Kelly, Rian Sheeran, Theo Kelly, the hugely improved Dylan Byrne and Ben Murphy ensured a difficult evening for the red and white clad attackers. Conor Walsh was tireless in his efforts as he led by example as team captain with a selfless display and Nathan O’ Reilly was an excellent partner in the midfield engine room. Colm Clinton with five points, Darragh Daly, Ryan McNamee who notched four, the tireless Harry Tilson and Zac Masterson combined exceptionally well in attack where special mention must go to Paddy Colleary who notched a whopping 4-4 with his finishing showing coolness and precision. Substitutes Sam Phillips, Cian Treanor and Manus Kelly played vital roles in the second half and helped maintain the visitors’ superiority.
