An Ríocht, County Down Tournament

Our Under-14 team travelled to the An Ríocht Club in Kilkee, County Down to participate in the club’s 7-a-side tournament.  The panel of Emmett Walsh, Brian Farrell, Shane Daly, Seán Óg Hynes, Zach Aherne, Mark Flynn, Andrew Shaw, William Adzangoa, Daniel Chukwuemekg, Ciaran Luby and Keith Whaley made the long journey. It was a worthwhile trip as the team topped its group after winning all four matches against Atticall (Down), Davitts (Antrim), Aughlisnafin (Down) and Carrickcruppen (Armagh). This qualified Shamrocks for the quarter-final where we played and beat the hosts An Ríocht after a great battle in extra-time. We were beaten in the semi-final by a great Kilcoo team who went on to win the final.  It was a great day’s football enjoyed by all which was finished off in Burger King at the Apple Green outside Dundalk. Thanks to Ray and Jean Walsh for their great support and to John and Edel Farrell for providing a 7-seater car.
