Joe Matthews Memorial Blitz.
Our under-10s competed in the Joe Matthews memorial blitz organised by the St Loman’s Club. Joe was a superb man to encourage young players to play Gaelic football and this was a fitting way to honour Joe’s memory. We fielded two teams in the competition with Shamrocks White made up of the younger players in this age-group. Both teams got their hands on trophies in keeping with the spirt of the Go-Games concept where all those who compete are winners. Shamrocks Green defeated St Mary’s Rochfortbridge, St Loman’s and were then beaten by Garrycastle. Teams in this group finished level on points; the Greens then played and beat Athlone and Multyfarnham and climbed the steps to receive our medals and trophies. At this stage Mullingar Whites had already collected their trophy and medals. Well done to all concerned, parents, coaches, mentors and the officials of the St Loman’s Club for a fine tournament
