Walk for Westmeath Easter Weekend in Mullingar Shamrock
Easter Weekend ( Good Friday to Easter Monday) April 2-5 has been declared Walk for Westmeath Weekend in Mullingar Shamrocks. Several club members have already contributed to support the Westmeath Lake County Movathon Challenge but at Easter we are asking all our members and supporters who have yet to take part to don the Mullingar Shamrocks or Westmeath colours (or both) and to walk, run, swim or cycle and make a donation on the GoFundMe page at https://gofund.me/814e69c2
Three members of Mullingar Shamrocks are involved in the organisation of this event, Karen Hegarty, Tom Hunt and Des Maguire. The money raised will be allocated to the upgrading of TEG Cusack Park (50 %) and to the preparation of our county teams in Gaelic football, Ladies Gaelic Football, hurling and camogie (on an equal basis). Denis Corroon and Billy Flynn are members of the Westmeath senior football panel; Anna Jones, Karen Hegarty, Tara Fagan, Niamh Spellman, Chloe Smullen, Lauren Mc Cormack, Daragh Ryan, Paul Aherne and Carole Finch are involved with the LGF panel. The Mullingar Shamrocks 8 has become 9 with the addition of Paul Aherne to the support team. It is important that these players are given every opportunity to perform their best.
As a club we probably play more often in Cusack Park than most so next weekend let's get out and run, walk, swim or cycle as part of the Westmeath Movathon Lake County Challenge and donate to the initiative.
All activities to be carried out within the 5 Km allowed by the 5 Km Coivid-19 restrictions
