Radisson Blu Under-16 Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 5-12 Clann Braonáin 2-9.

This match scheduled for Tyrrellspass was switched to Milltownpass at short notice. Huge credit is due to Milltownpass for great work done on their pitch recently. Shamrocks started sluggishly conceding a goal inside a minute but responded very well scoring an unanswered 2-4 to establish an eleven-point interval lead that laid the foundation for an eventual 5-12 to 2-9 victory. Clann Braonáin had some very strong players especially at midfield and centre forward. Shamrocks’ best players were full back Matthew Siode, Mark Flynn, William Adzangoa, Zach Aherne. Brian Farrell, Rory O’ Sullivan Sexton, Daithi Ó Mairtn in what was a great team effort.

Radisson Blu Minor Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-6 Athlone 6-9

Mullingar Shamrocks began well and led by 1-4 to 0-2 after 20 minutes but Athlone finished strongly and at half-time led by 2-4 to 1-4. Unfortunately, we conceded a few soft goals after the restart which sealed our fate. The final score of 6-9 to 2-6 was not a fair reflection of the competitive nature of the game.  

A great panel of 23 players travelled to Athlone and it was great to have Padraig McKenna making his return at minor level after a long-term injury. Unfortunately, injury and illness ruled out John O’Reilly and Adam McCormack There were some very good performances especially by members of the Under-16 panel stepping up to this level. We now play Caulry and Kilbeggan in our remaining group games- both are in Springfield.
