ACL Div. 4 team qualify for League Final ...

ACL Div.4: Mullingar Shamrocks 2-13 Moate All-Whites 0-8

This victory qualifies Mullingar Shamrocks for the final of the ACL Div. 4 against Athlone (Cusack Park, Saturday evening at 6.00). Shamrocks fielded the same six forwards as started against Castledaly on Tuesday evening, but this arrangement ended within minutes of the start when the unlucky Jordan Warde was forced to leave the field with a concussion injury after a heavy fall on the hard ground. We wish Jordan a speedy recovery to full fitness and to the fine form he was showing recently.

Ciarán Curley opened the scoring for Shamrocks with a point and this was followed by a Dean Moore goal after the Moate All-White defence was unhinged by a superb  Paddy Joyce pass. Joyce and Gary Corroon then combined to send Ciarán Curley in for Shamrocks second goal. Curley, Ross Corroon, Darren Keena and Brendan O’Reilly also pointed to establish a 2-5 to 0-3 interval lead. In the second-half the home side was outscored 0-8 to 0-5 and Mullingar Shamrocks earned the ACL Div. 4 final place with two fine points by veteran Gary Corroon worthy of note.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Adam Smyth. Eamonn Breslin (Cormac Murphy), Davy Coyne (Eamonn Breslin), Marc Eivers; Ryan Blundell, Paddy Joyce, Pearse Corroon; Conor Twomey and Dillon Matthews; Ross Corroon (0-3), Dean Moore [1-1] (Mark Butler), Brendan O’Reilly (0-1); Darren Keena (0-3), Ciarán Curley (1-3), Jordan Warde (Gary Corroon 0-2).
