Great Under-8 Blitz in Lakepoint Park ...

Shamrocks Under-8s made the short journey to St Loman’s on Friday evening  for their second blitz of the year. Fifteen matches were played between Shandonagh, the hosts and Mullingar Shamrocks and all 41 players on duty in green and white can feel very proud of their efforts. Several Shamrocks' players made their competitive debuts, namely Dylan Hanley, Connor Donoghue, Emily Collentine, Lauren Heavey and Johan Chempavanthy while Sam Sheerin featured for the first time this year and excelled. Conan Kelly, Jamie Timoney, Colm Clinton, Emily Maguire, Darragh Daly, Theo Kelly, Carl Keane, Fionn Ledwith, Cian Traynor, Adam Clinton, Conor Matthews and Oliver Keane were also prominent for Shamrocks and it was heartening to see many parents and siblings in attendance on what was a glorious evening for sport.

There were star performers from all three clubs with many players putting aside classroom friendship for an hour of fiercely contested but very sporting fare. Indeed, the wonderful spirit the games were played in added to everyone's enjoyment. Darragh Hannon, younger brother Adam, Harry Sugrue and Senan Walsh gave their all for Shandonagh while the exceptional Cathal Kilmurray shone for St  Loman’s with Shane Canning, Jack Kiernan, Michael Brennan, Louis Bracken and Billy Lambden also impressing. Aidan Canning was organiser-in-chief and ensured everything ran smoothly;  approximately 100 players enjoyed post-match refreshments afterwards.
