Mullingar Shamrocks and WestmeathLadies Gaa, Anna Jones has been named The Croke Park Hotel/LGFA Player of the Month award for May. 

This is a wonderful and deserved honour for a brilliant footballer and great all-round sportsperson whose range of skills are as good as any player. 

It is also the  first time a Mullingar Shamrocks player received such a prestigious award.

Anna  produced a player-of-the-match performance against Wexford in the TG4 Leinster Intermediate final on May 16 as the Westmeath retained the provincial crown.

And Westmeath have carried that excellent form into the All-Ireland series - with a home quarter-final already secured.

Westmeath will discover their quarter-final opponents next Monday morning when the draw is conducted – with the fixture due to be played on Sunday, 28 June,

Victories over Monaghan and Louth have sent Westmeath through as table-toppers in Group 2 - with Anna  dominating midfield, and contributing 1-4 over the course of their two games.
