Ladies Gaelic Football, Under-12 League: Killucan 2-2 Mullingar Shamrocks 3-6 

A great team performance by our Under-12 girls panel vs Killucan on Thursday evening resulted in a well-deserved victory in trying underfoot conditions.

Shamrocks opened strongly with a goal from Marie McKeogh in the first few minutes. They never looked back with excellent performances throughout the pitch. Captain Jasmine McFarlane Ginnell added a goal and there were well taken points from Sophie Russell and Marie McKeogh. Shamrocks back line were also terrific holding Killucan scoreless in the first half. 

Killucan began the second half brightly but Shamrocks fought back with Áine Creagh scoring a goal and a point to stretch the lead. 

The concession of 2 goals towards the end of the game (does that sound familiar this week?) underlined the quality of the Killucan team who never gave up and continued to play to the final whistle. 

We had several players who wore the Shamrocks jersey for the first time Grace Hanley,  Mollie Darcy and Marie McKeogh. The first of many we hope!

Well done to every member of the team who all played their part in a great display in spite of the very, very soft pitch. 

A big thank you to all the parents who brought the girls to Killucan and provided great vocal support throughout the game. 

Terry will certainly have his work cut out for himself to get the gear ready for our next match on May 3rd. Sorry Terry!
