Whiskey Tasting with Robbie …
Robbie Harrison’s Whiskey Tasting proved to be a great night’s entertainment in Canton’s on Thursday evening with plenty of opportunity to taste the rarest of whiskeys. There wasn’t a drop left in the rare Midleton bottle but the highlight of the night and the star of the show was Mullingar man, Michael Carr, the Global Ambassador for Powers Whiskey who entertained the assembled with his encyclopaedic knowledge of whiskey, its history and lore. Powers, Bushmills, Jameson, Jack Daniels, Scotch, there is nothing this man doesn’t know about the golden liquor and for almost two hours he entertained and educated those who came along to support Robbie’s Strictly Shamrocks Fundraiser. These included Tommy Gunne who survived the Siege of Jadotville in the Congo in 1961 and Jack Reynolds, a member of the St Loman’s senior football championship winning teams in 1961 and 1963. A special thanks to John Cunningham who helped Robbie get this show on the road.
