Emer and Peter ...

Emer Sleator and Peter Finch will be making their stage debut when they Tango on stage to the music of Sweet Dreams at the Park Hotel.   Although Peter, who has been involved backstage with Mullingar Charity Variety Group and the Mullingar Arts Centre, did appear in a play some years ago called The Last Tango in Mullingar, this work of art was a dance-free zone. Emer competed in Irish dancing competitions as a child and like Peter is enjoying the challenge of preparing for performing on the big stage on 12 May and being moved out of her comfort zone.  Emer is a lover of the outdoor life and when not working with husband Criostóir in the family business at Sleator Kia likes to engage in a canal bank walk with her three dogs or ‘do a bit of running with friends where we do more chatting than running’. IT specialist Peter is a talented artist whose dancing experience has been confined to stepping it out in Bozo’s Night Club in Athlone in the 1980s. However fellow dancers be warned: Peter has been carefully studying the moves of Lt. Col Frank Slade played by Al Pacino in the famous Tango scene in the movie Scent of a Woman. Slade is an appropriate role model for Peter who was born in an American Army Base in Wiesbaden in Germany but grew up in Athlone.
