Under-10 Girls Blitz, Minors defeat Multyfarnham and Under-8s travel to Athlone ...

On Monday evening our U10 Ladies travelled to The Downs for their first outing of the year. The cold and windy conditions didn't dampen spirits or excitement as the girls, under the guidance of Karen Hegarty and Debbie Newman, played three matches. For some girls this was the first time they have put on a Shamrocks jersey. Every girl gave it their best and should very proud of their efforts. At times the quality of football on display was exceptional. On this showing the future is bright for Mullingar Shamrocks Ladies Gaelic Football. A huge thanks to all parents that were there to support the girls.

In the tsunami of Mullingar Shamrocks information flowing the past few weeks we must not forget a few other important occasions.

Minor Football League: Mullingar Shamrocks 3-12 Multyfarnham 1-13

Our minors had a good win last Wednesday night against the table toppers Multyfarnham in what was a good open game of football with some good play and scores from both teams. Goals from Shamrocks at crucial times decided the contest. Shamrocks started the brighter going four points up with scores from Mathew Maslin and the accurate Trevor Keena. Dylan Matthew got the key score of the half with a goal after one of his typical strong runs from mid field. Multy finished the half stronger and Shamrocks went in four points up after playing with a strong wind.

Shamrocks started the second half like the first and scored two goals within five minutes, the first coming from a penalty from Trevor Keena. John O’Reilly added a third goal and good points from Zach Aherne among others kept Shamrocks ahead. Shamrocks had some good performances throughout with Brian Reidy and Mark Eivers manning the central defensive positions which helped keep the Multy score down. Overall a good win for Shamrocks in what was their third game in the group.
