Féile na Gael

There was no joy for Mullingar Shamrocks Under-14 footballers in the Féile na Gael competition as we were eliminated after losing our second match against Lilliput Gaels. We began with a 3-8 to 0-0 victory against Inny Shamrocks who were also beaten by Lilliput Gaels. A quarter-final place was at stake in our second match but two early strikes by the classy Shane Corcoran put the St Malachy’s-Ballinagore combination into a lead they were never to relinquish. A fine goal by Ben Meredith revived Shamrocks hopes but the home team could only manage 0-3 from frees by Conor Fagan for the remainder and Lilliput Gaels survived and were deserving winners 2-2 to 1-3 winners.
