ACL Div. 4: Athlone 0-13 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-11

Results wise not the best of weekends for Mullingar Shamrocks in the ACL with three defeats recorded. This ACL Div. 4 match in Athlone was certainly one that got away as an estimated 2-9 in scores were missed from open play and frees and this might have been a conservative calculation. This fault that can be easily eradicated when training resumes on playable pitches and players become familiar with the ball. Both Athlone and Mullingar Shamrocks included of players who will feature in the senior championship when it begins in four months’ time.  This weekend provided the first steps on this journey and lads got plenty of football (a few hardy boys saw action in all three games) and after all this is the object of the exercise.
