Last Man Standing ...

Offaly's first win in NFL eliminated two of the nine Last Man Standing runners out of the race. Six of the seven remaining made it into Sunday’s round with Karen Hegarty the unlucky one as her choice of Longford to beat Sligo fell just short.  Next week John Cunningham has Kerry and Derry, Niall O’Dowd: Derry and Meath; Sean Hynes: Kerry and Roscommon; Joe Martin: Kerry and Dublin; Eunas Martin: Kerry and Clare and Marian Madden’s hopes rest on Kerry and Clare.  So five pundits have pinned their faith in Kerry and after the hammering from Dublin their confidence may be a little shaken but then Kerry are playing Kildare who have relegation virtually secured.   Derry look a certainty against Wexford but expecting Clare to beat Cork might be  a bit much. Meath look good against Louth but the local derby factor will be crucial here and Cavan will fancy their chances against Roscommon and may bring Sean Hynes’ interest in the competition to an end. Down and Tipperary is a big game in Div.2 and Down at home carry the hopes of Marian Madden. Tipp to win that one and take a big step on the road to Div. 1. They need to win as their last match is away to Cavan.
