Under-Age Results

Out two under-age teams enjoyed victories at the weekend with the minors travelling to Ballinagore where they secured a 3-10 to 2-7 victory over Lilliput Gaels and in the Leinster Under-13 League we had a convincing victory against Tullamore 5-15 to 1-4. We top the group and this qualifies Mullingar Shamrocks for the semi-final stage of the competition. Our men on duty against Tullamore were: Eoin Doran, Peter Finch, Killian Kelly, Dylan Carey, Nathan Cornally, Shane Ormsby, Tadhg Sheridan, Conor Heffernan, John Ryan, Ryan Kelly, Donnacha Maguire, Alex Sheerin, Hugh O’Sullivan, Luke McCabe, Matt Shaw, Rían Maguire,  Adam Glynn, Gavin Pierce.

Against Lilliput Gaels, Shamrocks began with a goal and a point in the first few minutes. The goal was a great individual one by Dylan Matthews who soloed through from midfield and blasted to the net. The lead was never relinquished but Lilliput battled hard and with ten minutes remaining the deficit was reduced to two points.  Mullingar Shamrocks finished strongly.  Adam McCormack scored our second goal and the third goal was a great team goal that involved a move that extended the length of the field and was finished to net by Brandon Heffernan after a great pass across the goals by Adam McCormack. Brian Reidy and Mark Eivers were immense in the backs. Sean Hynes made some great saves on his first outing between the posts with the minors. A good win to start the year for a team that won the under-14 championship four years ago. No pressure lads.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Sean Hynes, Cian Fox, Brian Reidy, Peter Bane; Cormac Darby, Mark Eivers, John O’Reilly; Dylan Matthews and Padraic McKenna; Brandon Heffernan, Cormac Hynes, Andrew Shaw; Matthew Maslin, Adam McCormack, Peter Hynes.
