Sports Capital Funding
Yesterday we got the good news that Mullingar Shamrocks had been allocated €33,000 of Sports Capital Funding for the ‘upgrading of facilities at Springfield’. This brings our total Sports Capital Funding received since 2001 to €275, 138.
These grants were awarded as follows:
2001: €57,138
2002: €20,000
2012: €90,000
2015: €75,000
2017: €33,000
The ten-year gap is interesting!
Our former player, Paul McGrath was a great source of support in the 2012 and 2015 applications; the advice of our member, Peter Burke T.D. for the current application was appreciated. However, the most important factor was the quality and accuracy of the application.
These financial allocations have enabled us to develop our quality facilities in Springfield. The 2012 allocation provided the bulk of the funding for our Fitness Centre whilst the 2015 allocation was allocated for the installation of a slit drainage system in our training/juvenile pitch and sanding and verti-draining our main pitch and to install lighting on perimeter walkway and to upgrade fencing on the training/juvenile pitch where it borders the river.
Yesterday’s allocation was provided for the purchase of specific equipment in the Fitness Centre and for providing netting at the back of the goalposts in the juvenile pitch and for the purchase of portable goalposts.
It will be well spent.
