According to the Sunday Times ‘the clubhouse of the Mullingar Shamrocks GAA club, where he began performing in Stars in Their Eyes-type talent shows’ is ‘one of numerous locations’ visited by One Direction fans on their pilgrimage to places associated with Niall Horan. If it is in the Sunday Times it must be true and maybe it’s time to get the Blue Plaque on the wall! 

Mullingar Shamrocks version of Stars In Their Eyes is where success stories begin. This is the show that is mentioned in all the One Direction biographies. Niall Horan identifies the response to his performance of Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours in this Shamrocks show as one of the factors that gave him the confidence to audition for The X Factor. And of course, Niall’s father Bobby was a member of the Mullingar Shamrocks Under-21 team that won the 1979 county title.
