Under-12 Ladies Gaelic Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 4-9 Kilbeggan-St Joseph’s 3-7

Mullingar Shamrocks Under-12 girls were in action on Monday against Kilbeggan- St Joseph’s in Springfield. The girls put last week’s defeat against Moate behind them and contested every ball from the start . The football was brilliant from both sides and the defending from Shamrocks was top class. Ellie Sullivan and Sinead Sweeny fired in goals and some great top points to send Shamrocks into a five-point interval lead. The visitors reduced the deficit on the restart but goals from Linda Raeside and another one by Ellie Sullivan, who scored 2-6 in total, eased the pressure on the Mullingar girls. In the final minutes both teams had chances; the Shamrock girls took most of theirs and at the full-time whistle were winners on a score line of 4-9 to 3-7.
