Messages of Condolences
A number of our members have recently suffered bereavements of close family members. Mullingar Shamrocks members and executive members extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved.
Sympathy is extended to Peter Burke on the recent death of his mother Mary. Sympathy is also extended to Mary’s daughter-in-law Olivia, grandchildren Leo and Ted, sister Theresa and members of Mary's extended family.
We also extend sympathy to John Doran on the death of his brother Jim in Coventry.
Sympathy is also extended to the Ronan family on the death of their mother Elizabeth (Lily), especially to Lily’s daughter Caroline and her sons Paddy, Paul, Vincent and Philip. Lilly’s grandson Adam is part of the Mullingar Shamrocks Under-10 squad and his parents Philip and Olivia are active in the club.
Sympathy is also extended to the Shaw family Raharney on the death of Liz. In particular sympathy is extended to Liz’s husband Denis Cahill and her sons Donnacha and Cormac, Liz’s mother Kathleen and her husband Shay, and to Liz’s brothers Brendan, Fergus and John, her sisters Treasa and Catherine (McCormack), and to members of LIz's extended family.
Liz was one of the driving forces of the Raharney Camogie Club winning 7 senior county camogie titles and in 2010 captained the team to success. Liz was also was a fantastic mentor, leader and coach to many different age groups over the years and as a teacher introduced the sport to the girls of Rochfortbridge Secondary School. Liz represented Raharney Camogie Club at county level both as a star player and a valued executive committee member as well having a key role with the Leinster Council. The Cahill family are steeped in the traditions of Tipperary hurling.
Liz is sister-in-law to Mullingar Shamrocks’ Lisa Burke and sister to Westmeath hurling great John Shaw and Westmeath GAA County Secretary, Brendan Shaw.
Liz reposes in Treacy’s Funeral Home, Shinrone (R42 E125) tomorrow Wednesday from 4.00 pm until 7.00 pm. Removal on Thursday to St. Patrick's Church, The Pike, Ballingarry (E53 H771) for funeral mass at 12 o'clock followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
