Under-12 Ladies Football Championship: Mullingar Shamrocks 6-5 Clan na Gael 3-3

Mullingar Shamrocks Under-12 girls got off to a winning start in the championship against a very good Clan na Gael team on Thursday night. Due to holidays and family commitments it was a 14-a -side-game. Clann na Gael went a goal up immediately but Elle Sullivan fired Shamrocks level and then put us ahead by 2-1 to 1-0 at half-time. The Shamrocks goal came under siege on the restart and only great defending by the backs and excellent goalkeeping by Alysha Mcloughlin kept Clan na Gael at bay; Shamrocks gradually gained control and goals by Sophie Russel, Alessia Hassett, and Emily Flynn gave the Mullingar girls a good lead. Ellie Sullivan added 0-3 and Ciara Moore contributes 1-1 for a final score of 6-5 to 3-3 in favour of Mullingar Shamrocks.
