If winter comes can Scór be far behind …

The Mullingar Shamrocks Club has a very proud  tradition of competing in  Scór and over the years has won in the region of 100 county titles, Leinster titles and 4 All-Ireland titles. In recent years our participation in the cultural competitions has been inconsistent to say the least. Our Cultural Officer Emma McCabe Byrne is anxious to reverse this trend starting with Scór na nÓg, the county semi-finals of which are scheduled for 1st and 2nd November. Scór na nÓg is for Under-17 years. 

Have we an instrumentalist that is willing to compete?

A dancing troupe (Figure Dancing or Set Dancing – Break Dancing is for the Olympics)? 

Darragh McCabe is ready to do a bit of solo singing.  Can we form a ballad group? – we are former All-Ireland champions in this discipline.

Anyone willing to do a recitation? – we also won an All-Ireland title in this section.

What about some fun and games with a Novelty Act? – we won an All-Ireland in this competition too with a sketch written by our own Paul Doolin.   

This is a great opportunity to take part in a range of activities related to Irish culture and represent the club in a non-football context.

And although the Gallagher Brothers might have strong GAA connections, this Oasis tune performed by Darragh McCabe doesn't meet the required criteria for Scór na nÓg but its class nevertheless.
