Under-14 Ladies Football: Mullingar Shamrocks 3-6 Clan na Gael 1-5

 Shamrocks Under-14 girls played their second match in three days against Clann Gael on Thursday night in Multyfarnham (all that early season gym work proved to be important).  Mercifully the weather God's kept the sun shining for the duration of the game.

 Clan na Gael dominated the opening 10 minutes of the game but wides and good pressure from the Shamrocks backs kept scores off the board. Gradually the centre-field duo of Máiread Newman and Jenna Kelly gained control and the scores started to come. The half-forwards, Jasmine Haugh, Sadbh O’Brien and Robin Wrafter were making good runs and all 3 in the Shamrocks full forward line got on the score sheet with Abby Smith  and Mia Gilligan  finding the net and Molly Byrne scoring a fine point on the right side. At the interval Shamrocks enjoyed a 2-2 to 1-1 interval lead.

 During the second half Shamrocks showed some good patterns of play but unfortunately many attempts at scoring finished on the wrong side of the post. Jasmine Haugh found the net and some fine points from Sadbh, Jenna, Máiread and substitute Leah Glynn was enough to give Shamrocks another great win for this ever-improving team. The full-time score was 3-6 to 1-5.

 The Subway Player of the Match went to Jenna Kelly for her tireless effort in the middle of the field.

The Under-14 Girls have now completed their league campaign with a very impressive record of 4 wins,1 draw and a single defeat by Killucan.
